So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye

In the words of the song from Sound of music;

“Regretfully they tell us but firmly they compel us
To say goodbye to you.

We went to say goodbye to the Herd of Sheffield yesterday. The torrential rain did not deter us and we got a picture of each very wet Elephant with water running down my sleeves whilst taking photos and rain soaking through my trainers which I didn’t know were not water proof! Each Elephant was parked in a parking space in Meadowhall car park for paying visitors to bid farewell and despite the weather the turn out was good and we were glad to be near the front of the queue for our time slot. The rain was so heavy at one point the drops were taking photos on my phone and then my phone stopped working!

So here we go 58 wet Elephants and Emily!

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed there are more than 58 images, that is because some elephants are different on each side. Apologies for the layout of the images, but we swapped cameras part way through and I am too tired and brainfogged to sort them out and improve the layout.

After going inside to find food and some dry clothes we came out to find the sun was out and we got our final view of the Elephants from the top of the car park

The Elephants will be auctioned on Thursday, sadly I can’t afford one or have room for one, but I hope they all find good homes and raise lots of money.
