52 weeks to 52

Last Thursday was my birthday, I always struggle as it marks another year of being ill another year of limitations, another year of no work or income. I have been ill for 25 years and unable to work for 23. There is so much I want to be able to do, but can’t. Only seeing the negatives though is not helpful and much of it is out of my control.

I wanted a way to show that I do achieve things and that small things count too. My idea is to post each week things I have managed to do or things I have tried, then by my birthday next year I will have something to look back on and say I did this. I will be 52 next year which is also the number of weeks in a year so it seemed somehow fitting.

During June I have been taking part in an online craft event for Dementia UK. Everyone tries to do a bit of craft each day and share what they have done. I haven’t managed every day, but it has given me motivation to do even a small amount each day, rather than saying I won’t get enough done to make it worthwhile. Some days there is no progress and it can be one step forward and 2 steps back, but at least I tried.

Hopefully each Thursday I will make a weekly post with some pictures or write a bit about what I have made or am working on and other things like recipes we have tried, if we go out or watch something good or read something. The idea is that it will be positive stuff so no saying I didn’t manage such and such or something went wrong, just what was done and achieved.

Week one will be posted on June 23rd.
