The 15th September Outlawz, Sunday Song and rhyme challenge is based on the poem Summer’s End by Nancy Hughes
We do not celebrate Labor day in the UK. In USA it is celebrated on 1st Monday of September and is a public holiday. In the UK we have Harvest Festival, mainly celebrated in schools and churches and has no fixed date.
I was inspired by the second verse which made me think of cooking food with fruit. In the UK one of the traditional puddings is an apple pie and would have been baked following the apple harvest. I can remember as a child being given boxes of apples from my grandparent’s fruit trees.
Last year we planted an apple tree in our own garden and the apples are nearly ready to pick.
This card is created with an image from Craft with Sarah, cut on my Cricut Joy, on a white doily cut with part of the Apple Blossom Floral Mandala die and apple themed backing paper from Your Paper stash. The wording is written on my Cricut Joy using a font called sugared apples, so plenty of apple connections! Are you feeling hungry yet?!
